A Bad Month Just Got Worse For Co-operative Legal Services

As expert legal recruiters we’ve always got our ear to the ground for the latest news in the legal profession. So we’ve launched our blog to pass that news on to you and keep you right up-to-date with the latest developments in legal recruitment.

We’ll kick off our first post with the news that, Family Law Specialist, Christina Blacklaws has resigned as Director of Policy and Family Law for Co-Operative Legal Services (CLS).

Blacklaws joined CLS with former colleague and legal partner Jenny Black from major London firm TV Edwards. The two were recruited by CLS to co-ordinate the launch of their family law service.

After running her own successful business ventures previously, she has now moved on to start her own consultancy firm – helping other businesses set up successful alternative business structures.

Having been the representative for child care lawyers on the Law Society of England and Wales since 2002, she is extremely well respected in the industry.

Her loss is a major blow to CLS who’ll be looking to recruit a replacement of a similar calibre who are few and far between.

Blacklaws resignation further compounded the financial struggles of the firm who last week announced a £22m lost over the last fiscal year. It formed part of the Co-operative’s overall loss of £2.5 billion across the group which was preceded by the resignation of Senior Independent Director Lord Myners.

LR Rectuiment are dedicated to finding the best legal jobs throughout London and South East. But don’t get too excited – sadly we’re not recruiting for Christina’s replacement.

However we are filling other great vacancies in family law and other legal disciplines right across the region every day.
